You cannot get AIDS from food

At least 3 reputable sources confirm that you cannot get AIDS simply by eating food (eg, fruits) that contains AIDS-infected blood:
According to an article in a website run by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), a US medical organization representing more than 93,700 family physicians, family practice residents and medical students [http://familydoctor.org/005.xml]:

HIV can’t live very long outside the body, so you can’t get it through casual contact. You can’t get the virus by touching, shaking hands, hugging, swimming in a public pool, giving blood, or using hot tubs, public toilets, telephones, doorknobs or water fountains. You also can’t get it from food, or mosquitoes or other insects.

According to an article in a website run by the US Centre for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), which is part of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) [http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/aidseat.html]:

People cannot get AIDS from food.

According to an article in a website run by the Ethiopian AIDS Resource Center [http://www.etharc.org/faq/faqhiv.htm#P7_49]:

Question: Can I become infected with HIV by shaking hands with, kissing, eating the same food as, or being sneezed or coughed on by someone who has HIV? Can I get HIV from a toilet seat? Or by being bitten by an infected mosquito? Or from a swimming pool?

Answer: No. This is because HIV is not an airborne, water-borne or food-borne virus. HIV can be passed from one person to another only when people exchange blood or sexual fluids (like semen or vaginal secretions). HIV cannot survive for very long outside of the human body. So you can’t get HIV by having ordinary social contact with an infected person.

Original message:

A 10 year old boy, had eaten pineapple about 15 days back,
and fell sick, from the day he had eaten. Later when he had his Health check done… doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS.
His parents couldn’t believe it… Then the entire family under went a Checkup… none of them suffered from Aids. So the doctors checked again with the boy if he had eaten out…The boy said “yes”. He had pineapple that evening.Immediately a group from Mallya hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check.

They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger while
cutting the pineapple , his blood had spread into the fruit.
When they had his blood checked…the guy was suffering from AIDS ….. but he himself was NOT aware.Unfortunately the boy is suffering from it now.

Please take care while u eat on the road side. and pls fwd
this mail to your dear one.

If you say HIV does not survive long outside the body then why does needles transmit it? Can it not die on the since it will be outside the body?

I am not quite sure what “long” means: 1 second? 1 minute? 1 hour? 1 week?
