Here are a few videos of guitarists performing taken when they were 8 years old or younger.

These little guys prove that one is never too young to be a virtuoso at guitar.

They can put much older guitarists to shame.

Forget Guitar Hero, play the real instrument: you and your kids!

First off Yuto Miyazawa, now 8 who was born 21st February 2000 in Tokyo. He’s been playing since the age of 3, have had “a few lessons”, but mostly it’s his sheer love of the guitar that drove him on. He’s into Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhodes, Eric Clapton, KISS and Metallica.

After making a name for himself in Japan, he went to the US in May 2008, playing at clubs in New York.

Here he is performing Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”, Eric Clapton’s “Crossroads”, and Char’s “Smoky”. The first guitar he plays, the flying V is taller than him!

Quinn Sullivan, now 9 who was born 1999. He appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show at age 6. He began guitar lessons at age 3. Recently he’s begun to write and perform his own songs. He performed live onstage with Buddy Guy in April 2007, when he was 8. He also made a guest appearance on one track on Guy’s 2008 album Skin Deep.

The following is a video of Sullivan performing with Guy when he was 8:

Tallan Latz, now 9 was born 1999 and is billed as “the youngest performing blues guitarist in the world.” He began playing acoustic guitar at age 4. At age 8, he was already performing onstage with performers of the stature of Jackson Browne and Les Paul. His influences are as diverse as Jimi Hendrix, Rush and Ludwig van Beethoven.

Lucciano Pizzichini, now 8 was born 14th May 2000 in Argentina. He has performed with the likes of Juanes.

Apparently Russian Anton Oparin was 9 years old when the following video was taken in 2004, so he should be 13 years old now, but he’s so good that it’s worth posting here:

Talent + relentless practice = world-class abilities. That’s what Tiger and Beckham’s doing to get to, and stay at the top.

Some people, like the person whose name starts with “S” you mentioned above, can practice 24-7-365 and well, good luck…
